Honesty in Actions

Assalamualaikumwarahmatullahi wabarakatu...
And good morning elders, lectures, and fellow students.
I’m .............................. from ...............
First of all, I’d like to say my gratitude to Allah SWT for blessing us so that we can get togather in this great time and place. In this speech I will talk to you about honesty in actions.

Ladies and gentlemen,
Firstly, I will be talking about honesty in general. Honesty is being truthful in word and actions. Honesty is one of the most important character qualities that a person can have. Being honest with others and yourself can be challenging.
Imagine that you just got the result of your English test. You got 100, the perfect score. But, when you checked again to your test paper, you found that you made some mistakes on your test. You think, your teacher might not check your test carefully. What would you do? Would you tell your teacher about your mistakes on the test? Or would you keep it for yourself and your English score would be safe? You probably think that it’s not totally your mistake, but your teacher’s too. But, this is not about who is right or wrong. This is about honesty.
What I told you is only one of the examples where we are faced to the situation about being honest or not.

Ladies and gentlemen,
Still in the school area, the study of honesty that must be start from school and idea about “Honesty Canteen” is very attracted. The Program of fair canteen that popular by Komisi Pemberantasan Korupsi (KPK) Republic of Indonesia is the pioneering work to rising generation of nation to treat the fair way. The motion in education of anti-corruption began followed in another place, in government and private institution, in fact in university in order to student and their lecturer always have high adoration of ethics and academic honesty. Until now there are more than one thousand fair canteens in whole Indonesia.

Ladies and gentlemen,
Why is honesty very important in our life? Honesty and trust go hand in hand. If people know you are honest they will put their trust and faith in you. And they will be more willing to help you if you need help with something. If they know you have a tendency to lie, they won't trust you and they'll find excuses not to help you if you ask them for something. Just like the little boy who cried wolf over and over when the wolf wasn't really there. When the wolf came and he cried out, nobody believed him and they didn't come to help him.
Being honest seems simple, but sometimes hard to do. How to put honesty in actions? There are several ways that we can take as examples in our daily life.
·         Thank someone in your family for being honest.
·         Tell your parents about a mistake you've made.
·         Tell the truth when you've done something wrong.
·         Compliment a friend for being honest.
·     Express your real feelings without anger, without blaming others, without exaggerating, and without hurting the feelings of someone else.
·         Turn in something that is lost and encourage others to do the same.
·         When someone wants to copy your work, politely explain that it isn't right and that it's best to do your own work.
·     Admit a mistake or error in judgment you have made and apologize to anyone it might have affected.
·         Do your schoolwork honestly.
·         Be truthful with your friends and thank them for being truthful with you.
·        When you ask someone to be honest with you, don't get angry with them if their honesty isn't what you wanted to hear.

Ladies and gentlemen,
Honesty is a virtue. Last but not least, If all people become honest, then our society will be an ideal society. The students should try to become honest in their day-to-day life. Because the students are the future of the country. Hence, they are expected to build an honest society for themselves and to leave a tradition of honesty for their future generation.
